After the recent rains, the Limerick County Pike Anglers had decided to fish a canal section for their 6th competition of the year, presuming that all the rivers would be running high and dirty. But on arriving at the canal section, they found the nearby river to be in surprisingly good order. So, not to look a gift horse in the mouth, it was decided to switch up plans and fish the river instead.
They didn’t regret their decision, as they were rewarded with a very decent tally of 16 pike for 60lb, which proved to be the most successful outing of the year to date. Best anger on the day was Sam, who totalled 26lb, and not too far behind was Tommy with 21lb. Doing the sums, it seems the two lads didn’t leave too many fish for the rest of the competitors…
