Newbridge District Pike Anglers drew their year to a close with the final outing of the season last week. Heavy rain meant the river venue they originally chose was unfishable, so they fished a canal section instead, which made life easier for the 13 anglers that turned out.

Sixteen fish were landed, best being an 11lb fish for junior angler Ollie Whitely. That was enough to win him first place on the day. When added to his two other competition wins over the year, it put him top of the club rankings for 2023.

Congratulations to Ollie, and it’s great to see a junior angler showing such consistent angling over the course of the year.
