Damien Culliney of Anglers Paradise had French anglers Sebastian and Emanuel out pike fishing for three days last week…
Had Sebastian and Emanuel over from France last week. They are no strangers to Ireland and are regular visitors for pike fishing in the north east. They had always wanted to fish the west coast though, especially the infamous Lough Derg. So we made a long weekend of it and fished Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Lough Derg didn’t disappoint and there was some tremendous fish and fishing had. The pair averaged nearly 10 fish a day, and many of these were really good quality 100cm plus pike. We only met one fish that was not well recovered from spawning at the end of spring. Maybe she had spawned late, as the other fish had clearly fattened up on the abundant roach and other baitfish in the lake.
We sent them back to France very happy anglers who told us this was their best fishing holiday in Ireland so far!
Go fishing…
