Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office announced the two college students who were missing after they failed to return from their hike up Ice Mountain, a 13,958-foot peak in Colorado, have died. The hikers were Colorado Mountain College Leadville Campus students Kaden Matsuda (19) and Jackson Donlon (20). The young men left campus on October 23 with plans to climb the mountain.

The hikers left their plans with family and friends. After reviewing the pair’s plans, search-and-rescue personnel discovered the hikers’ vehicle at the trailhead. A search team then found the hikers’ tent that had collapsed under the weight of the snow. Inside were their sleeping bags, a stove, and some clothing. Teams eventually also discovered the bodies, as well.
