“Ever wonder the difference between a wolf and a coyote?” asks Kyle Moon, a Yellowstone photographer and guide, in his Instagram post sharing a video of two coyotes coming face to face with a grey wolf inside the park. The video from this summer is a great visual for those curious about the size difference between the two canid species.
In the caption, Moon says there was a series of events that led up to the moments captured on film that also involved a black bear, several other coyotes, and a second wolf. He doesn’t expand on those events, but the clip he posts shows two coyotes approaching a wolf, which suddenly appears from behind a clump of trees.
The coyotes bark at the wolf, which acts slightly annoyed before chasing one of the coyotes around a tree. The wolf is massive compared to the coyotes, and the two species seem to have very different demeanors.
