A climber in Fresno County, California, fell from a cliff face, landed on a rock ledge, and needed rescue. Search-and-rescue crews were able to lift him from the 700-foot cliff and get him medical help. CHP – Coastal Division Air Operations shared footage from the dramatic rescue on social media.

“On Sep. 11, 2026, at approximately 12:45 PM, Helicopter-70 (H-70) [. . .] received a request from CHP – Central Division Air Operations for a rescue at the Courtright Reservoir, which is located on the southwestern Sierra Nevada. A rock climber had fallen off a steep rock face, commonly known as ‘Power Dome’ and was in urgent need of extraction and medical care. H-70 responded from their base at Paso Robles Airport with a crew of two. Utilizing a helicopter rescue technician (HRT) from Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, H-70 performed a hoist extraction of the injured climber, then transported the climber to an awaiting ambulance.”
