“I couldn’t stop laughing at the absurdity of the situation I found myself in today,” wrote John, who goes by guyinutah on Instagram. The “situation” was that he was driving on an unpaved road in Utah, enjoying the fall colors, when, suddenly, he came upon a sea of sheep in the middle of the road. The sheep surrounded his vehicle, and there were so many, John couldn’t even see where they ended.

“What do I do now?” John asked himself as he came to a stop in his vehicle. “I’m just out enjoying the fall colors, and then a thousand sheep come down the road.” (He laughs as he says this.)

In his Instagram post sharing the video, John explains that he was on the Wasatch Crest Trail near Monte Cristo in Ogden. He also says despite not knowing what the protocol was for this sticky situation, he thoroughly enjoyed it.

“Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience because it was crazy and unexpected,” John wrote in a comment. “I’m not a sheep herder nor do I live on a farm, so yes, I had no idea what to do. The lane was only 1 truck width wide and no room to back up or turn around. I waited about 7 or 8 minutes for them to pass. There was one cowboy and five or six dogs at the end driving them down the road.”
