A fishing trip recently turned tragic in Ohio’s Scioto River, ending up with five people drowning. Two couples and two children under 10, along with a fifth adult, were fishing in the river, when, reportedly, one adult entered the water to swim. That person began struggling, and all four other adults went in to help. All five people ended up drowning, leaving the two young children orphaned.

The unimaginable situation happened on Sunday near Powell, Ohio. The Associated Press reports that one of the children flagged down a motorist on a nearby road, and that person called for help. Rescue crews found the two women’s bodies on Sunday, and they found the three mens’ bodies on Monday.

Two of the victims have been identified as Honduran couple Jose Mario Pineda Dias, 33, and his wife Marina Suyapa Regalado, 28. Their two children are now in protective services. The second couple was also from Honduras, and the fifth adult has not yet been identified.

This situation is still developing, and details may change.
