A couple driving through the Canadian Rockies had the most Canadian-Rockies experience ever, and they 100% didn’t expect it. As they were driving along in Jasper at 5:30 AM, they spotted a male moose walking on the side of the road toward their vehicle. They stopped to let the animal pass, but it didn’t just pass. The moose stuck its head in the open passenger-side window and hung out with them for a bit before peacefully moving on. A video of the rare moose encounter has already wracked up over 2 million views.
“WHAT IN THE WILDLIFE HORSESHOE JUST HAPPENED,” wrote Kellie Paxian in her Instagram post sharing the video. “This moose of all moose came straight swiftly up to our vehicle and we never could have anticipated him STICKING HIS FRICKEN HEAD IN, and by that point i was so shook and didn’t want to startle him by moving the vehicle (seeing as his neck was inside). we both felt it was best to let him carry out the interaction, and did not so much as exhale the entire time.”

Paxian describes the moose as very calm, curious, and intrigued. She guesses that the animal liked licking the salt and/or moisture off her vehicle, and then it became interested in the warm air coming out of the vehicle’s exhaust pipe.
“There is still moose saliva on my door,” Paxian adds.
