There’s a Missing Person in Grand Canyon National Park

A search is still underway for a missing person in Grand Canyon National Park. The missing man is 26-year-old Sandarsh Krishna. Krishna was hiking along the Rim Trail between Bright Angel Lodge and Mohave Point on April 27. The latest update from park officials is that someone found and turned in a backpack that matches the one Krishna was wearing when he was last seen.

“Grand Canyon National Park continues search efforts for missing individual Sandarsh Krishna along Hermit Road and surrounding areas of the South Rim,” wrote park officials in a press release. “Over the last several days, more than 30 search and rescue personnel have conducted extensive operations both above and below the rim using multiple search techniques, including rim trail scanning, walk down routes, technical rope insertions, aerial reconnaissance flights, and drone operations.”

A black backpack matching the one Krishna was wearing on April 27 was turned in to hotel personnel at Bright Angel Lodge on the morning of April 28. Authorities are seeking to speak to this individual but say he/she is not a suspect.
