These are the stories I love to write about. Who says happy endings only happen in storybooks? For Guppy, the shelter dog, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Despite her rough start in life, she is now enjoying the best that life has to offer. Additionally, she is stealing hearts along the way. After her new mom shared a video of her giving Guppy a piggyback ride, the internet has completely fallen in love.

Shelter Dog Gets A Second Chance At Life

Although her life is full of love and adventure now, it didn’t begin that way. Dog Time shared some of the unfortunate struggles that Guppy had to endure earlier in her life. Initially, she was taken in by a shelter in Sacramento. The shelter had discovered her as a stray, and she was in really bad shape.

They assumed that someone had been using Guppy for breeding until eventually they abandoned her. California Bully Rescue stepped in to see if they could help Guppy’s situation. Unfortunatley, the poor pup suffered from many ear infections. The infections left her ears so swollen that she required surgery to remove her damaged ear canals.

Now the outlet shares that she is “partially or fully deaf.” However, that did not stop her sweet personality from shining through. Instagram user  @big.head.boys went into the shelter looking for a smaller dog after losing one of her beloved pups a few months prior.

However, Guppy’s incredible personality made her forget that she was 35 pounds. The owner and dog bonded immediately, and Guppy left the shelter, getting her second shot at life.

Guppy’s Life Now

Guppy’s new mom shared an Instagram video of the two of them enjoying a beautiful afternoon together. In the video, Guppy is seated comfortably in a backpack while the shelter dog enjoys a piggyback ride on her mama’s back.

Guppy is smiling ear to ear and relishing the fresh air and wind on her face. Her new mama captioned the video explaining that “little girl is settling in so well.” Also, she shared that Guppy’s “tiny legs can’t carry her very far.” However, they don’t let that stop them from bringing her on adventures.

Instead, they got a backpack and a stroller, so no matter where they go, Guppy can join. Additionally, this shelter dog isn’t only bonding with her new parents but with her new sibling as well. The caption reads, “She is perfectly adapting to ranch dog life, and Bub is perfectly adapting to having a weird little sister that makes gremlin noises and wants to snuggle him at all times



.”

I am honestly so happy for Guppy, this is the life she always deserved.
