In Estes Park, Colorado, rut season is on full display. Bull elk like one local legend called “Smash” are showing off for the ladies by ramming into moving objects like golf carts and vehicles. One recent video from Estes Park shows a bull (possibly even Smash) smashing a car’s window as it stopped to look at the elk herd on a grassy hill next to the road.

One person in the comments section notes that the vehicle has Kansas plates, so it’s likely the occupants of the car had never seen a bull elk so close up before. (That was a little to close up, though!)

“Potatoes have better situational awareness than this driver,” jokes another commenter.
