Pittsburgh-Area Petting Zoo Welcomes Surprising New Animal

When thinking of a petting zoo, most people typically imagine small, fluffy animals. Things like rabbits, goats, maybe even a donkey. However, all animals in a petting zoo are typically docile and non-threatening. Yet, the Pittsburgh-area petting zoo has just welcomed a surprising new animal into their mix.

The Living Treasures Wild Animal Park in Moraine recently shared photos of its surprising new animal addition. They just introduced a clouded leopard cub named Squeaks to their establishment.

In a Facebook post, they shared details about the clouded leopard. They wrote, “The Clouded Leopard is listed as vulnerable, and although their species is protected, the enforcement in many areas is weak. It is through facilities and programs like ours that they have the best chance for survival.”

CBS News shares that the petting zoo has “close to over 500 animals, including 70 different species.” So it may not appear as a surprise that they would have something as exotic as a clouded leopard. In a post introducing Squeaks, they also share that they have kangaroos, alligators, and even a Pygmy hippo.

Can You Actually Pet It?

While their posts do not explicitly say that you can or cannot pet the clouded leopard, you can definitely go and visit it. Pittsburgh-area petting zoo shared that you can visit Squeaks “Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 to 5.”

Regardless of how you can interact with Squeaks, people are overwhelmingly excited about meeting the adorable little guy. Here are some of the comments left under their social media posts.

  • “We saw him on Friday. It’s great that LT is helping with their survival

  • “We saw Squeaks. Glad you have a cat again.”
