Arizona’s Fox 10 News is reporting an unprovoked attack on a hiker in the Grand Canyon. Fox 10 says the hiker had traveled to Arizona from New York to hike the Havasupai Trail to Havasu Falls, but she became separated from her friend and needed help finding her way. That’s when she approached a man to ask which direction it was to the lodge, and, instead of providing help, he attacked her with a knife.

Fox 10 shared footage of the attack on social media. The news outlet also says the man is in custody awaiting criminal charges and that he has a criminal history.
