A cat repeatedly fights off a coyote in recent security-camera footage from Pico Rivera, a southern California neighborhood. Debbie Beltran told local news it was her cat, “Mama,” that bravely (or perhaps recklessly) defended its turf from the coyote in broad daylight. Beltran’s neighbor caught the footage on an outdoor security camera and sent it to her.

KNX News explains in a Facebook post sharing the footage that Mama the cat is 10 years old. Mama doesn’t appear to be afraid of the coyote, because instead of fleeing, it lunges at the larger animal several times and successfully avoids injury before fleeing up a tree.
