A woman was hiking with her husband in South Dakota’s Custer State Park when a bison charged at her. She ultimately died of her injuries. The 70-year-old woman from Canada has not yet been identified.

Local news reports the couple was hiking on the Grace Coolidge Trail when they encountered a group of bison. The hikers stayed about 500 yards away until the animals cleared the trail. Continuing on their hike, the couple turned a corner only to see several bulls within 50 yards. That’s when one of the bulls charged at the woman and tossed her into the air.
