On Tuesday, several people called emergency services about a bear stuck on a power pole next to Highway 56 in New Mexico. The bear appeared to have climbed up the pole but couldn’t get down.

New Mexico Game and Fish reportedly told 9-1-1 dispatch there wasn’t anything they could do to help the bear without putting its life at risk. Other witnesses say a local power company was en route to cut the power to the lines, but the bear died of electrocution before they arrived.
