Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) announced that a black bear with cubs nearby attacked a man on Monday near Eagle-Vail in Colorado. The man was exiting the laundry room in an apartment complex when the bear attacked him.

“Late Monday afternoon, wildlife officials learned an adult male was leaving a building laundry room when he encountered a female black bear,” reads CPW’s press release. “The bear swiped at the man, scratching his arm. The victim tripped and injured his foot while trying to escape.”

CPW reports that the man is no longer in the hospital and is recovering at home.

Wildlife officials have not yet been able to capture the sow and her cubs for relocation, but CPW says it has placed a bear trap in the neighborhood.
